How do you radiate the character of God?

The characteristics of a godly person are found in Galatians 5:22-23. They are called the fruit of the Spirit. These traits are a result of the Holy Spirit working in our life. Basically, to be godly is to radiate the fruit of the Spirit from your life. In doing so, you are radiating the beauty of God's character to the world. An apple tree is easy to recognize when it has apples on it. In Matthew 7:17 Jesus said, "Different kinds of fruit trees can be quickly identified by examining their fruit" (Living Translation). The New International Version says, "Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit." The character of God will be seen in your life only through the fruit of the Holy Spirit. There will be times when, instead of the fruit of the Spirit, you will manifest the works of the flesh. When you do, come to God in repentance and confess your sin to Him. He is always ready and willing to forgive and cleanse you.

Ready Galatians 5:17-24. What two influences are contending for control of your life? List the works of the flesh, or sinful nature, which Paul condemns. List the 9 fruit of the Spirit which Paul commends. What have Christians crucified? Read 1 Timothy 6:11. What is the godly person to pursue? Read 2 Corinthians 3:18. How do you take on the Lord's character or image? Read 1 John 1:8-10. Why is confession essential for the Christian? What does God do when you confess your sins?
